July 11, 2007 If you need to restore your hard drive with an image you created with True Image, follow this procedure. NOTE: Before you do a restore, you need to backup your data files!!! If you don't, they will be the same as they were when you created the image you are restoring. You will lose all the data files you created since the image you are restoring from was created. If you have not already done so, you will need to make a Bootable Rescue Media CD. You can bypass this if you created a Secure Zone, but for most people, you will need this disk in order to do a restore. If your computer will run Windows and you can start up the Acronis True Image program, you can skip making the CD, click on Restore, and start from here. Click on the Create Bootable Rescue Media item, insert a CD-R disk in your burner, and follow the directions to make the disk.
First, put the CD you made in your drive, then reboot the computer. (You will need to make sure your computer will boot to a CD before it boots to the hard drive. Most computers are set this way now. If not, you may want to seek help with the whole process. When the computer boots up on the disk, click on the full Acronis option.
Click on Restore, then Next to start the restore wizard.
Now, click on Recovery.
Next, go down the list on the left pane to the folder where your backup images are stored. Click on the first image. The description will show in the right pane, then click Next.
Click Next on the screen below.
On the default setting below, click Next.
Click on the C drive, then click Next.
Leave the default as Active, then click Next.
Click Next on the screen below.
Click Next below also.
Leave the default settings below and click Next.
You are now ready to click Proceed to restore your image. REMEMBER, you needed to backup your data files created since this image was created since they will be gone when the image is restored. After you restore the drive, copy your data backups back to their original directories and you're done. If you have any questions or comments, click |
