Well, here we go with another new year.  What's ahead for the computer and electronics industries?  It would be great to have a crystal ball.

Undoubtedly, some more businesses are going to fail due to increased costs and decreased revenues. I think the new technologies will continue at a record pace.  The less a manufacturer can sell a new improved product for, the better their chances of increasing market share.  Sometimes a sliding economy can breed more innovation.

Phones, personal digital assistants, games, televisions, all electronics will probably continue to improve and cost less.  I remember when I purchased my Gateway computer in 1994 because they had dropped the price $100 and I thought I needed to get it before they raised the price back up again.  Strange thing is that the prices have gone down every year since then.

Phones continue to evolve and are now basically a small computer you take with you in your pocket.  PDA's don't even resemble the units of a couple o years ago.  Games and televisions continue to change as fast as retailers can put them on the shelves.

Just when we purchase something thinking it is the ultimate and best to buy, they end up developing something better to replace the unit we bought.  All you can do is get what seems to be the best value or best design, and plan for it to become obsolete in the future, because it probably will.

Let's just continue to hope we've seen the bottom of the bad economy and hopefully we can all have a happier new year!!
