Be sure to check out the free download link for links to Internet sites for antivirus, hardware & software update downloads and information. Looking for something in particular? If you're looking for a particular subject and want to find it fast, here's a tip. Click on the Search link in the left column. When the Google search starts up, type in what it is you are looking for, then, click the radio button where you would like to search, either the Internet, or this web site. It makes it a lot easier to find a specific item or subject. As I continue to add information for people learning to use a computer and to improve your skills further, it is much easier and faster to type in a reference and search this web site for the material you are looking for. Did Ya know? Interesting Internet fact: As of January 2012, worldwide there are 582,716,657 web sites active on the Internet containing over 550 billion web pages! That's up 4.9% from last month. The numbers, since January of last year tend to indicate the number of web sites is continuing to increase. There was an increase of 22 million in the last month. Would you believe that in August of 1995, the number of Internet sites was only 18,957! The amount of spam a person receives is a direct result of your web browsing and email habits. Those who get few spam messages are prudent as to what email attachments they open, and how cautious they are about giving out their email address (see here for more information. As of Christmas day, 2010, daily spam messages totaled around 35 billion messages per day. While that seems like a lot, there was an unexpected drop of about 65% since August when the number was about 225 billion messages per day. The Christmas stats account for about 82% of the total email sent. The number is starting to rise again. Click here to read the Symantec spam report. Make sure to update your Outlook mail rules regularly, use a yahoo or Windows Live email account, and be discrete about giving out your email address. Now that we have the improvements in Internet Explorer, use the In-Private browsing when looking for information on the Internet. As of February 1, 2012 the various antivirus programs are checking computers for 15,839,675 different viruses and threats. That's right, we are now over 15 million and we're seeing additions of close to 400,000 per month. Make sure to keep your virus DAT files up to date!
